Nature Club inaugurated by Department of Biotechnology
Today, the unthoughtful milking of natural resources and the waste disposal dilemma has reached a state that threatens the life of every creature on earth. To find a solution is a critical challenge for all. Keeping these facts in mind, the Department of Biotechnology, T. John College organized an event “Greenathon” on 28-02-2009 as a part of the Nature Club inaugurated on the same day. The programme began with an invocation song, the symbolic lamp lighting and welcome address by the Head of the Department, Dr. Bini Toms. The Principal Sister Dr. Flower Kommattam addressed the gathering with her thought provoking words. An enlightening key note address on planned waste management was given by Dr. Sucharita Tandon, Department of Environmental Sciences, Bangalore University. The inaugural session was followed by a Plantation programme, poster presentation, quiz and rangoli competitions on the theme "Save Earth". The post lunch session included a theme based cultural programme. The day concluded with Greenathon- a march by all the students and staff of the department, across the campus, cleaning it.
