35 B.Sc. Biotechnology students of VI and IV sem and 3 faculty visited Indian Institute of Horticultural Research and Central Poultry Development Institute, Hesaraghatta for an institutional visit on March 22, 2011.

At IIHR, research scientists Dr Mythili explained to the students the various processes for genetic modification of plants, Dr. Laxminarayana Reddy spoke about the importance of molecular markers in plant breeding and improvement.

At Central Poultry Development Institute, Mr. Anwar Basha, Staff Scientist, explained to the students the various breeds of chicken, turkey, ducks and emu bred at the institute and also the market value for meat and eggs from these poultry.
