T. John Institute of Technology hosted Visvesvaraya Technological University Inter Collegiate Bangalore South Zone Table Tennis on 28th and 29th February, 2012 at Auditorium.

At the out set, I would like to profusely thanks to Director, Directorate of Physical Education & Sports VTU for giving an opportunity to host VTU Inter-Collegiate Bangalore South Zone Table Tennis Tournament 2012-13, particularly our Dr. A N N Murthy, Principal, T. John Institute of Technology, Bangalore, for having reposed confidence in me to conduct the said tournament as CONVENER.

The Tournament was held in the newly constructed Indoor Auditorium of T John Institute of Technology. In fact, the said tournament was the first event to take place in this Auditorium which has a very spacious hall where we arranged 6 Table Tennis Tables with nice infrastructure.

As many as 23 Teams in Men and 12 Teams in Women participated in this tournament to vie for top honours. Added attraction was that currently State No.1 both in Men and Youth, Sri A.R.Naveeth (BNMIT) apart from other former State players both in Men & Women took part in this tournament. Totally it was colourful show. The entire credit goes to the indefatigable efforts of the Organising committee which resulted in tournament ending on successful note.

Men’s Team Event Finals: BNMIT beat RVCE − 3-1

  • ◊ Navneeth A R bt Anup Basti & 11-3, 11-4, 11-5
  • ◊ Sandeep M V bt Misbah S A & 11-5, 11-6, 11-9
  • ◊ Ashwin H lost to Arjun N R & 12-10, 11-13, 10-12, 8-11

Earlier the tournament was inaugurated by Wg. Cdr. (Rtd) David Yohan, Advisor to Chairman TJGI who was the Chief Guest. Shri Ashok Kumar, Regional Director for VTU, Bangalore South Zone Sports and Shri Sambasivam Campus Director TJGI were the Guests of Honours. Shri A.N.N. Murthy, Principal TJ IT presided over the function.

Shri Thomas P. John, Chairman, T. John Group of Institutions was the Chief Guest for the Valedictory Function who also gave away the Trophies and Merit Certificates to the Winners and Runners Up of both in Men & Women Teams Events. I am extremely thankful to the International Table Tennis Umpire Shri S Kannan and his team for memorable Technical Officiating during the period of the tournament.
