Department of Languages of T. John College organized an Inter Department Hindi Debate on August 19, 2011 between 2:00 - 4:00 PM. The motion of the house was: "Is Anna Hazare's movement against corruption Constitutional?" : ‘kya bharsthachar ke viruddh Anna Hazare ka sangharsh Samvidhanik hai?'. Two students from each UG Department spoke; for and against, the motion respectively. Mr. Saroj Kumar from V sem BA Journalism was adjudged the best speaker ‘for themotion’ and Mr. Rahul Prabhat BBM III. Sem ‘Against the motion’. BA Journalism team scored the highest in the debate. The students had researched the topic, and had presented powerful facts, for and against the motion. They were emphatic and assertive in what they believed. The session was judged by Ms. Shiva Sharma (BT), Ms. Aradhana Yadav (Management) and Ms. Kiwi Saini (Computer Applications). The Vote of Thanks was delivered by the coordinator of the event Ms. Shikha Tiwari. Through this debate the student community tried to express their solidarity towards the ‘Cause’ for which Anna Hazare is fighting. These budding citizens of India are looking forward to a corruption free India which shall be possible with the passing of the Jan Lokapal bill.
